Me and a buddy who has a 92 yota who are both new to 4x4ing were hoping to get out for a few hours this Saturday! Looking for some easy trails/ routes for us?
Maybe some one to show us the way if they are up to it!
Heard oliphant lake isn't that hard? And close to central saanich where we both are.
Thanks for any help!

Oliphant is great. It's got trials for just about any skill level.
You get rewarded with some nice views and a great lake to check out.
Okay awesome thanks Jas! I'll be headed that way on Saturday morning!
Is it easy to find the paths on google earth? I don't know where it starts or anything
i thought they blocked the path in?
yea olpihant is definitely do-able for many skill levels, I have a long bed double cab tacoma ( for reference) and can make it around and back no problem. Entrance is behind the serious coffee in mill bay, and to the best of my knowledge ( i was there a few months ago) its not blocked! someone more recent can confirm? (jas?)
let us know how it goes, and if u guys want to go back sometime maybe march i can take you around the loop, its a good go :) welcome to the forum!
the entrance was all dug out a month or so ago, it is now passable again. pretty easy.
they dug it out? wow that sucks, good to know its passable again!
We never tried to make it to oliphant lake, we accidentally found hillcrest 60, and we had a nice little run,
Unfortunately on my way to Courtney my engine blew up, I might post a build thread
Will be a while till I get out again
damn man sorry to hear that :/ you guys found hill 60 accidentally haha? thats def further out thatn oliphant :P
Ya it's currently at Coombs Country Auto, but ya we didn't try for oliphant, headed up to cowi, turned when we saw a dirt road, and what do ya know- hill 60
Is the entrance to get to Oliphant at the end of Frayne rd? thats the only dirt road access I could find thats not blocked.
Has anyone been up to Oliphant the past month ? Thinking of heading up there tomorrow. Does anyone know if the lake is iced over ?
@chicken nugget its like near the end of deloume, on the left side
There's a lot of road named deloume in that area according to google. Are you talking about the one that turns into gravel that is gated? I saw people dirt biking up to the left before that gate.
Yea that's the one, you can drive up there too
I used to get around the gate at the Mill Bay Rd turnoff on the Malahat in a stock 4runner. Pretty sure my Frontier would get hung up on the tow hitch and high center over the crest though.
Yea that road on deloume is really the best one as far as I know
