Anyone ventured up the East Main from Jordan River to Diversion and Bear Creek Reservoirs this spring? If so what kind of shape is it in? Last time I was back there was last June and it was tough going - but BC Hydro was promising an upgrade. No idea if they ever delivered.
Really rough but if you can find the right trail you can get onto butler and through to cycuse
This sounds like an interesting area! I have been told a bit out it by a few random people but haven't seen anything detailed....
any more info?
It's an area with a lot of opportunities for four wheeling, fishing and camping, but unfortunately access is becoming a problem. The Butler Main from Otter Point has been closed and gated for more than a decade although some folks still find a way in. The East Main from Jordan River was still open the last time I was back there last year but going was very slow due to slides, washouts and blowdown. There should be lots of people trying to get back there this weekend so maybe next week there will be some updates on the condition.
East main has been gated most of this year, you can get around however... Its open most week days but there's a lot of logging activity so you have to be cearful not to get in there way. Usually theyll have a lead truck though who will just tell you to pull over and let the bigger trucks go by.
So, any updated reports from anyone who was back that way over the long weekend- or at least tried to get back there?
apparently some asshat planted a fake bomb at diversion and now Queesto is putting a gate up, no more public access.
WTF?? So is it just the access to Diversion that is blocked or the whole East Main all the way to Bear Creek?
the whole bloody road is my understanding. Check out the facebook group "South Island Motorized Recreation Advisory Council"
I was there this past weekend.
The only 'gate' I saw was the line of boulders across the road.
Not sure if this will be readable....
