Thanks again. Great to hear. I have camped on the north shore of Bear Creek Reservoir in the past - hauling my gear in by canoe from the East Main after they closed the Butler Main - but the Timber West security guard showed up one time and told us we were trespassing and could have been fined $300 for having a campfire. Shore lunches are OK as long as you don't stay around. That being said, it's clear others who have found a way in are still camping there in those attractive sites you mention and TW has been so busy with land sales in recent years I'm not sure what the status of the north shore is. The south shore is , as far as I know, under separate ownership, but it's steep, rocky and heavily forested and has no good natural campsites. Of course you can still camp at the end of the earthen dam that forms the
reservoir but it gets crowded and a bit crazy.
Thanks! I must check this out. I thought from reading the backroads map book you would encounter gates along the way but maybe some were open or have been removed. It looks like you might even get into Weeks Lake again, which I haven't done in years. What kind of shape was the road in?
The people at Hydro have once again assured me they are not abandoning the
East Main. After all they need it to access their dams. They say crews will be in there in the next couple of months grading and removing vegetation. I'd say they have a very big job in front of them and it will require more than grading to halt and repair the erosion. Still haven't been able to find any alternative routes that aren't gated. Hydro recommends I speak to Timber West - again.
