Can anybody help on legality of lift kits in BC?

I am trying to make sense of the rules for lifting a truck - there is a ton of contradictory information on any web search.

I am moving from the USA to BC this summer (timing is Covid dependant). Bringing a US Landcruiser for the duration of my work permit seems simple enough but I cant figure out if professionally installed Icon suspension upgrade, 2 inch lift and K02s is going to be a problem.

Does nobody in BC really run a small lift and suspension upgrade on a late model truck?

Many thanks and apologies if this is in the wrong forum

Very excited to move to Vancouver as soon as possible!

Stay safe and well.

I have personally never heard of anyone having trouble with small 2-3" lifts, even through provincial vehicle inspections. Bigger issues for imports are usually DOT headlights and windshield, etc for RHD rigs. They'll also ding you for tire poke or narrow fenders, and sometimes loud exhausts, missing tailpipes, etc. Maybe someone here has more details but overall I wouldn't be too worried about bringing over a moderately modified landcruiser. I think your bigger issue will be the lockdowns and border closures, but hopefully you're able to make it.

Good luck with the trip and welcome to vioffroad!

How long is your work permit for? I would just leave your landcruiser registered and insured in the USA if you're only going to be here a year or so.

But like Shane said, you shouldn't have a problem if you do get it inspected.

We’re probably coming for three years so will need to do a “temporary import”. I had thought about just leaving the truck as US registered but was told that being in “limbo” it would be impossible to insure.

Thanks for your help!
