Here's a trip my buddy and I took. For those of you new to the site, you can upload your own gps data files of your explorations in your posts as well when you register.
We started at the powerlines near hillcrest (Duncan/Cowichan) and worked our way up to the Chemanus river. After following the river for a while (and descovering a really cool camp spot) we found a crossing that brought us into what I now know as copper canyon. We went as far as we could go but ran into deep snow so we turned around (this was a couple of months back). On our way out we decided to see where the main gravel road went and we ended up in Chemanus. We didn't know where we were at the time but emerged to a locked gate, luckily there was a guy there who let us out. Apparently people entering from that location are supposed to 'check in'.
I'm thinking this is the same route me and Jesse stumbled upon back in April, cool to see a map of it for reference.
ya that sounds like exactly what we did, its a nice trail. i wouldnt mind venturing further into copper canyon, looks like theres some cool places
chemanius is off limits now. they pay that dude at the gate to keep us out. its locked on the weekends. there is a park on Mount Brenton there. use that as an excuse to get in. or show a fishing license for reinhart. we were in there last summer and got yelled at twice and had cops at ricks door when he got home. they gave him a trespassing warning.
10 000 hits for this post is why chemanius is all blocked. but what fun we all had on chemanius river. remember the partys at 8mile?
for more info check out trail run: hill crest road. chemainus river and to mt brenton
As a follow up to this post and for future reference this trail is actually called "exit wounds"
