On all my older copies of the back roads mapbook it shows that bugaboo main between Gordon river and Mclure main doesn't go through. Each edition shows the road getting closer and closer though, and my new 8th edition book shows they actually connect. We were exploring nearby recently and I DID note that the gate was open close to Gordon river, but we didn't follow the road past. Anybody know if it actually goes through?
hey smokey. i just went up there last weekend.
gate has been open all winter. doesn't look like its even functional, IMO.
for directions i used OSMand~ (http://osmand.net/) to navigate offline. no other up to date maps had the route.
a link to my gpx file in this thread near the bottom:

I should mention that there's probably active logging up there now. we crossed a parked truck that mayyyy have been trying to block the way... no marking other than a fleet #. We just moved the log next to it, and carried on. The road had been severely washed out, earlier in the year. now its freshly packed and all the wood waste is piled on the sides.
Cool thanks Roninswanson,
I think we'll take that route through and do some hiking in carmanah or walbran valley. I'll take some pics and post em up!
Came through Bugaboo from Mc Clure to Gordon Main earlier today, starting to grow over but quite passable with stock Tacoma and gate still open.
Went through the bugaboo from the Carmanah side, this past August was passable but quite overgrown. It would be difficult if you ran into someone heading the opposite direction because the alders are close. I suggest bringing your chainsaws. But was great fun in my little jimmy.
