Sunday Run-day

Hey all,

Alex (iruninca) and I are going to venture into the Skutz Falls and possibly Copper Canyon areas on Sunday. We will meet at 10 am at the Skutz Falls parking lot trailhead.

I definitely recommend a lift (small okay). I have done Skutz before stock and it can be rough on the rockers. Come see my Jeep for proof. Locker not needed.

If you're around, feel free to come on out!

There will definitely be swimming breaks throughout the drive too!

I'd be down. How would a 4runner with 3" lift on 31's do? Little lacking in the armor department but a couple bashes might be the motivation I need to start welding some sliders/skids up.

That will work Justin! I only have a 3.5 inch lift myself.

If you have an FRS radio, bring it along! I only have two handsets.

Fun day out there finding our way around South Cowichan.

Got turned around at some downed logs so we hit up Tadjiss Lake and the lookout. Conquered the rock to get there. Got turned around by a gate which added an extra adventure but that's how it goes sometimes

Great pictures Seth - I need to remember to take more so not much to add, but I've got the moment when you put a leak in your tire on video! Had a good day, a little extra adventure just adds to the fun of it.

I did see what could be another way past the downed logs we hit when saving the gps data from the other day. Decent chance its blocked too, but if someone is ever nearby and feels like checking it out would be interesting to know. You can see where we went up the one track and then turned around, the other road could potentially take you past that.

The leftmost trail goes all the way up and is pretty nice.

Thanks for the tip Shane! Guess we went right by it. I might actually head back up there this Sunday if anyone wants to join. My 2nd half of August is looking a bit busy so possibly my last outing for a few weeks. I also might have another person/vehicle interested in coming, should know that by the end of today.

I might be free, as long as you promise we won't be going down those powerlines again! haha

Haha yeah once was enough I think! Sounds like I should have someone coming up with his wrangler, but he wont know for sure until tomorrow. Did just hear from my wife that she might have a work thing to deal with sunday but if that's the case I'll bring my kids along for the ride, but they are pretty good travelers at this point. We can plan on same meeting place same time sunday?

Hey guys, wondering if this route is still open? I've seen a couple posts about it but nothing from this year.

I go up there regularly. It is open and there are miles of trails. Even without climbing the powerlines you can get south to Tadjiss and Wild Deer Lakes.

Is that original mapped out route above the most direct way to the ridge? Is that route just following the powerlines?
I've heard talk of some gates within the area, are they pretty avoidable if you just follow the main route in that link?

Thanks again for the help!

That is the powerlines route. There are some very steep sections. I tried it years ago in a stock S10 Blazer and couldn't make it.

If you put Tadjiss Lake in google maps and Skutz bridge as the start point it shows the route. That is the non-powerline/ no gate way to get there.

Check my profile or the Tadjiss thread on this forum.

We are going up this weekend with the canoe on top
