Does anyone know if the route from Lake Cowichan to Bamfield is open. I have never been this way and want to make sure that there are no closed gates before I plan a trip.
Via Cowichan Main? I haven't driven it recently but I think it's a heavily used route, and really the only way to get back and forth from Bamfield, so it should be open.
We did Reny to Bamfield main a couple weeks back. No gates or road closures. One of us in the group spent the night in Bamfield then took it too Cowichan no issues. Pretty flat and easy route.
Was heavy rains the whole day so we didn't get any good views of the valleys. But stopped to check out both Avatar Grove and Big lonely doug (a tree), and a couple cool waterfalls next too the road. The road from reny all the way to bamfield main is in much better condition then bamfield main.

Yes via Cowichan main. I have gone through Port Alberni to Bamfield before but I wanted to check out some other routes. Thanks for the info.

How is the scenery out that way? I have only done PA to Bamfield. Bamfield is beautiful.

did you continue to Eden grove?just past lonely doug, definitely worth the little hike plus the awesome water fall before you get there!
