So i am looking to buy some new mud tires and i am seeking opinions based on experience offroading on the Island .Being from Alberta i am used to dirt trails and mud and not a lot of rock like there is here.
The jeep i bought came with Mickey Thompson mtz tires and i do not like the look of the tread so i wont be buying those.I do have experience with the Goodyear MTR and liked that tire and also had a short experience with the cooper stt pro tires but sold those to some one on the forum after i bought this current jeep.I should mention this is a highly modified jeep and is strictly for offroad use although i will be driving it to where ever i am offroading so it will be on the highway so i think super swampers are out even though i see a lot of trail rigs running those tires. .Some of the tires i like are BFG km3,Goodyear MTR.So if there are other Brands i should look into let me know as i will appreciate it .
Thanks Brent
I love my BFGs, mine is a daily driver thou, quiet on the road and great for what I do off road. When I go off roading I air down to between 15 and 20 psi and back to 35 when I hit the pavement but they take a good beating so far and no blowouts for me anyway. Also got them at 16000km now at just over a 100000km.
I ran 35" Cooper STT Pros for a long time and loved them. I never found any terrain they didn't do well in.
I'm currently running 38" TSL SX swampers and they arent terrible on the road, just takes a few blocks to get them round again after sitting for a week. (trail rig)
I love swampers they just dont have the size i need but thanks for your input.
Well decided to go with the maxxis razr mt tire .They arrived today and they look great.
How are the Maxxis tires so far? Where did you buy them? Decent price?
Lol well I have not had a chance to try them yet.I have had to completely rebuild this jeep and I am just finishing up with the
front right side control arms today and waiting for 10% off sale tomorrow at 4wheelparts to order my new currie steering components and replace main oil seal and maybe a seal in transfer case
and we will be ready to go.I will say they have a great tread pattern with nice Sipes and were $300 a piece from big o tires which is a couple bucks cheaper than 4wheelparts.I have a 15 inch bead lock rim so if have a 16 inch rim or more your tire choices will expand. Tires were 35x12.5 x15
Right on, sounds like it won't be long before you get them dirty.
My tire size is 265/75R16 which is like a 32x10.5. So Big-O in Nanaimo is the place to get them? I was going to see if they could get the new Yokohama G003 in, I'll check on these too.
The Yokohoma g003 seamed to have good reviews also.
