hes running a stock jeep grand crapachie. we got some good tires and a jack. :) its lookin a wee bit beat these days. runs good and it dont break down. but what crap gas economy. 11am sunday jan 12th at nicol st mcdonalds. just south of downtown on the old highway. we are open to the direction we head. the weather seams fairly warm over most of the lower hills. we are going through extention to start.
PS it did break down
I might join up for a trail run....other plans for tomorrow are seeming to be falling apart so would like to get out.....anyone else going??
Looks like I can make it! See you at Mc D's
Had some fun today learning some of the area around my place out in extension. Separated my driveshaft once in a twisty section.....the long slip driveshaft is moving up the priority list....quick fix
Ended up by Whiskey Lake
Welshy blew his diff and needed a winch but we got him out.
It was another good day out on the trails for sure! Thanks to the guys for dragging my Heep out of a sticky situation…. wet mud and a 1 wheel drive vehicle isn't a good mix!
Be back out as soon as i get a new axle in there...
Good times (other than the breakage) Thanks guys!!!
Nice shots Fatty!!
we had a good run. they logged extension ridge. blood farts gone. they blocked some of the roads. they wasted 25% of the trails. trans canada trail is blocked. the old train tracks are open. fatty popped his front drive shaft. 15 min to put it back in. gw had to get winched. he busted his front drive shaft completely.
it was fun for in nanaimo city limits
the logging and water work all around south western nanaimo spca hood has caused high waters and new creeks. the dams are a nice park even in the rain.
New axle in tonight- ready to roll again!
Hey guys, can anybody tell me where I can do some novice to intermediate off road driving. I live in Victoria (Saanich) and have no idea of any logging roads or areas that I can explore. any help would be appreciated!!!
Thanks Mark
its all bought up near vic. sookes ur closest place to play. but ud still need someone to show u where the trails are. this is why we do runs. they are usually planned and staked out. most places are blocked off. or grow over. 2 seater toyotas old jeeps and trackers are gate keys. they fit between the trees. even cowichan is all bought up. the end of lake cow has lots. top of koksilah and weeks has some good trails. also private land. worth exploring for sure. mostly long logging roads. chemanius river valley is totally off limits. one of the reasons im in nanaimo is its 10 blocks to good 4 wheeling. trails fade in a just a couple of years. between logging and extreme growth we are always poking around. literally. no one shares the trails online for lots of reason. mostly because we are not aloud anywhere but public roads. which do include forestry roads. the logging roads are just dirt highways. and the branches are usually blocked. so i hope u like turning around. i scout on a bike or quad. and i keep my own maps. gps n a map only tells u where u are. malahat has some bad bumpy dirt roads but no wheeling. ur welcome to plan ur own thing. post under trail runs. or tagalong. we run once a month for sure and do all kinds of other activities.
nice welshy !!!
Thanks Localguru, I'd like to do a Sooke run if anybody is heading out that way. I will be looking to head out Jan 25th or the 26th.
welshy and i are off to the hill s again saturday. id like to leave earlier. the days are still short. 10 am mcds on nicol st. im in a stock tracker and welshy is in a stock grand crapokee jeep. we are stockers. but all are welcome. ud be amazed where pinkis been.
all u western communities wheelers. take mark out and show him the trails. weeks lake the old gold mine. personally id like to access the old shawnigan trails. north of the koksilah river park. across the river. thats quite the playground.
10 AM it is….lets see what we can find!
i have a trail in there north of the kokshilah, its all island timberlands in there. the trail hasnt been run yet, it will require more than a stocker to get thru. if you are out on the weekends there is a gate in glenora, you just register and they will let you thru. wild dear lake and lois lake are both nice, fish were jumping in long lake too
or red balls across from skuts falls is open. should have a rear locker at least, but with finesse an open open can make it
Agreed, Red Balls was fun open open but sketchy at parts! Glenora is my favorite spot for some nice outdoor fun of any sort, fishing especially. Wish I could make it out saturday, unfortunately I work saturdays :(
