I have been up there before but it was back in 2008-2009ish.
I went up to Rhodo Lake and Moriarty Lake in my old Tracker while doing a GPS contest and I was within a gunshot of Labor Day Lake when I finally got to the damned GPS tag on that stump in the middle of nowhere (long story short I went the wrong way and had to hike across a huge clearcut). Moriarty lake was honestly just a bug hole. Rhodo Lake is nicer and you can actually fish in it.
Mt Moriarty seems like a decent day hike, I have always wanted to go back and hoof it up there one day but my knees don't like long hikes anymore and most of my friends are not the type of people who go climb a mountain just because it's there. ;-)
the roads are never cleared, can only do after everything has melted and some steep sections. I've never quite made it to labour day lake. need good tires, and 4low. The lake moriarty section you can access from somewhere on the nanaimo side, but no idea where. I've only approached from the Cameron main side. Never climbed Mt Moriarty, but its on my list of 'one-days'
I've hiked to the first bump on Arrowsmith, the hike was balls steep from the road, Pass main I think? Can't remember exactly. Climbed up a steep gully between Arrowsmith and Cokely, then up to the first peak of Arrowsmith on the right. Steep. Snowy section between the two mountains too, in August I think it was
I climbed a similar route up Arrowsmith several years back also in August and there was snow in the saddle then as well. The climb wasn't very long as I remember, maybe a few hours to that first summit. I tent camped right on the top and it was cold as hell overnight, but a great time nonetheless! The view from up there is amazing.

This looks like a great trip! Looks easier than Arrowsmith too, so bonus there.

Good to know thanks, and still snow in August....

I drove nearly to Arrowsmith & Rowbotham lakes over the weekend, had to turn back as the Northwest bay gate closes at 4PM.
