A few of us are going out for a rip around some trails on the Hillcrest/Prevost/Sicker area in the morning.
If you have the day off, can be in Duncan before 10am and want to join a small group, there's room for one or two more, especially if you have recovery gear.
Meet at Hillcrest off Hwy18 at 10am. Probably going in from Chemainus River Park side. Some stock friendly stuff but good tires and "real" 4WD are highly recommended, could be patches of snow/ice up the mountain in places.

Was up top Sicker last week end about a foot of snow up the top i most likely be up on Sunday to check out some new to me mine locations ..Have fun up there i have that stupid work thing to do ...............................
Would love to go as I have recovery gear as well but unfortunately I have that same damn work thing to go too..if it was on the weekend thou...after the super bowl I hope to be out more often!
Hope ya guys have fun!
How did it go up there?
Made it up to the waterfall trail on Sicker but that's about it. Spent the first part of the day on the Hillcrest side. Did "Fucked My Mirror" trail over to the powerlines first and the Jeeps & I made it just fine but the Subaru was having some trouble getting through so there was some backtracking and waiting for them to go around. We ran a bit short on time to make it to the Tyee tailing pile because a couple of people had to leave early to pick up kids from school etc. Next time will be on a weekend I think and we'll probably take the Jeep trail in off Sicker Rd first since it's too easy to get distracted by all the little trails on the Hillcrest side.
I really need to explore this area with somebody who knows it well. I've been up twice and we found some cool stuff alright, but had no idea where we were or what else was around. Great area to explore though. There seems to be tons of fun trails, abandoned mines and other fun things in the woods there. Plus it's so accessible and close, rather than driving out to nitinat or port renfrew
I'm down to go out there almost any time but the top section does tend to accumulate snow and then melt partially and then collect more snow again so it can become like a crusty ice sandwich with little ice pellets, about the worst surface imaginable to drive on.
yea the top in that area is pretty brutal lol, i would suggest waiting until the snow melts but i guess it all depends what your into!
I will be up there Sunday to see how the snow is its rained so much and its not cold i hope the snow is gone guess i will see have to new mine shaft to check out i to go lol
Let us know how it is :)
