Winter camping for a 4x4 with camper

Hey guy's I'm from victoria looking for some good spots to do some winter camping maybe up jordan river way or just generally with in a couple hours of vic....Not a major off road rig but a Ram 3500 with decent MTs and a full size camper so kind of looking for spots off logging roads with a river or lake....also would love if possible a safe spot for shooting nearby...

I haven't done any camping in the lower island so would appreciate any good suggestions and tips....

Thanks

Thought that was washed out halfway up, is it accessible through Forbey again?

it was washed out, but from what i have been told it is easily passable now. there has always been many ways to get around, but not with a big truck and camper
Wfenris, grab a back roads mapbook or just do a google map search.

I get the whole map book and go for it thing.......But I was kinda hoping to find some thing ppl know of cause i keep hearing that the logging roads are often closed. Also i have a friend coming to meet me the second day so if I have no cell service i won't be able to pass on the directions for her to find me....

So whats up with the logging road closures heard its cause of idiots and vandalism. And ideas on the ones that are usually open ?

there are a few accesses behind Sooke that are still open, better off PMing someone though on locations. There is a big problem with idiots using the back country as their personal dumping grounds for garbage and old appliances.

in sooke ...butler/boneyard/muir/tugwell....there is no [legal] access unless you have a key
in jordan r...forebay to the dam/res...is open, buthas washout....will be fixed eventually....n main is accessable but not much up there
in reny...like i said......lots of opportunity...lake/river/ocean....gordon m and harris/ lens m are open.....after that,nitnat...etc

gas........ in reny...hotel? and marina,then cowichan r.....nitnat..sometimes??

You can into Tug easy enough through the backside of OPR. Won't be long before that gets shut down also. Few apps on android good for finding access like map.me and backcountry.

Good choice. Nice camp site at flora lake and an even better one up on the far side of Francis lake. Should be able to get to the beach there with your truck, I did it with my Xterra easy enough.
