Just moved to east sooke from the mainland, and picked up a new LR4, so not looking to put on pinstripes just yet. Looking for some nice excursions, logging roads, etc. Been looking at a lot of the threads here, lot of nutso cats which is great. But also reading that a lot of the popular routes around this area have been gated and fenced off, not so great :(
Have been hitting google maps and picking off the roads ( hitting gates ), one by one. Will hit anderson in the next few days which I've seen mentioned in some posts and is next on my list.
But anyone else have suggestions for some easy trailing in the meantime.

Welcome to vioffroad! You've got the right idea - the best way to find the good stuff is to brute force the trails one by one. Some of the better trips I've had were down roads that likely hadn't seen traffic for years. I think my favourite kind of off roading is of the exploration variety.
