Hey everyone. I posted 2 months back about being on the island for a few weeks this month. The girlfriend has let me abandon her at a friends for the weekend of the 18,19 this month. So I'm looking for a guide or 2 to some fun trails. I'm open to 2 day trips or an overnight somewhere. Or just one of the two days
I will be based out of nanaimo, but obviously can travel.
Throw anything you want at me. My jeep and I are capable. Not a huge fan of mud, but I'm willing to go anywhere.
I read about a ww2 plane crash or two?
Love ridge drives, lakes, fishing. I want to win that photography contest, so let's see some sights!
I know there are a bunch of fires so I'm open to whatever you boys (and girls) want to do
I'd also love to meet up with someone for a Vioffroad sticker!

Out of towner trail run July 18-19
I'm pretty sure I offered to take you out, but considering the circumstances I'm going to bail, it's just not worth it. Not only is Timberwest/Island Timberlands security handing out fines, but dragging my hot exhaust across dry grass and brush just isn't worth it for me. You shouldn't have any problems finding someone to take you out, and I'm sorry for bailing, but until we get some rain.....I'm parked.
You missed the photo contest unfortunately - it's into voting now. I think I've probably got a sticker for you as consolation though :)
Larry's right about the fires - it's getting real dry out there. That said, I'm happy to do a higher altitude tour where it's a bit cooler and maybe not quite as dry. There's one spot in particular out past Cowichan lake I wouldn't mind checking out again, if you're into the drive?
It is Supposed to rain a bit in the next while, hopefull it does! I defenitely don't want to deal with fines or trespassing
I'm open to just about anything really distance wise. If you said it was 4 hours, I'd still be there :)
A few sprinkles this week. But Friday looks promising
What's the difficulty? Full day trip?
19th works for me... This rain should make it safer for a nice day run next Sunday. Lets hope we can get more people interested in coming along.
Unfortunately I have to bail out of this run guys - Sorry! I'll definitely try to make the next one though.
That's too bad. Hopefully we can still find somewhere to go!
Unfortunately there still hasn't been enough rain to get the forestry companies to re-open the forests. So it looks like it may be a no go.
Any area you guys can recommend to check out that doesn't involve off road then? Grasping at straws here
Lots of good off road stuff still accessible. Try hillcrest road near duncan - you can either go straight into the back side of sicker/prevost, or hang a hard left at the forestry pools and get onto power line roads. Even in the best of weather much of the road access is shut down but there are always alternate routes to be found.
Are we talking back road, going solo is fine. Or offroading, bring a buddy?
