Just some pics from a modified only run with the Alberni Jeep Club.....minimum 35s, one locker and a winch.
The run started on the Tofino highway and follows a steep logging road and then leaves the road and follows old fire line trails through the timber into the sub alpine and some lakes......just awesome up there.....a few hard spots, the one washed out hill is definately challengeing.
Was a great time
GPS file (Google Earth):
That looks like an awesome run, and that view - wow!
Cool thanks for sharing Fatty, looks like a good time.
Awesome… I need 35s and lockers!
Is there a point I could park my stock truck and hike the rest?
Just after that tight switchback half way up there is some cross ditches that might be too deep....or might not.....if not then you can get to where it just rounds around the ridge of the hill (to above the 800m contour mark if you zoom in 2 clicks) that's the spot where all the trucks are in the one pic
It has a locker and 32's stock just not a lot of ground clearance. I'll try it when the fire risk isn't so bad.
You will make it then....its nice up there and worth the trip.
Has anyone been back there recently? The entrance that the route appears to have taken has a gate had a no trespassing sign claiming video surveillance, I tried to come in on AW21 and TF22C but both had bridges that were out.
Old thread but figured I'd update as we just made an attempt at this one. Made it near the top but hit snow on the last section before the lake. The trail near the top is GNARLY. Pictures really don't do it justice. Even with no snow this trail will really take balls to get to the top of. Locker(s) absolutely required. Might make another attempt later in the summer but honestly not sure, it's super sketchy at the top.
Wow that does look pretty intense! Definitely a very cool trail though! I may have to check it out sometime... the top may have to wait though. Lol
Thanks for the update, Looks loose and gnarly up there.
Very washed out, lots of water comin down trail. But a wicked drive! Well worth the views. Not as bad as I thought past first knarly hill. A little slick doing in a down pour lol.
Yea this is a sweet trail - I've been up a few times since my last post as well (during summer) and it's a really nice spot, alpine lake at the top and some killer views.
Beauty spot for sure! Nice pics!
