There's an episode of Expedition Overland where they do this trail. Looks like a fun trip, though lots of sawing from the looks of it.

yes the episode is what gave me the idea. there are a bunch of guys who are looking into doing it now. also they cleared 20+years of windfall so Im sure its not so bad nowadays
would be an intense trip for sure

Is this a well known show? These guys seem pretty soft and safe

its not well known they do the online webisodes these days. they are trying to show people the safe and adventurous side of over landing. you know where you still have to make it home after your done.. you don't want to break down 1000 km into the bush.. or an injury lol

Drove through south shawnigan, wow has it ever changed. The exit I used to take from the oliphant back roads is dug out and blocked with boulders and gated father down. Doh.

Yes in My eyes these guys are kinda lame, but they are also not trailering or draging anything home! And going much further than any of us have. So respect is due. But were I to do something like this I don't think I would be worried so much about machetying shit. That injury was knarly and too be so far out, dangerous. I also thingk going with tires with side armor would help decrease the risks of a tire gash or puncture, either of which can prove fatal when your that far out! Which I suppose is why they were being baby's about clearing the way. All of them wanted to make it home.

The Rover Landers have done it three times over the years, last time in 2008, before that in 2005, so I doubt the Expedition Overland group were clearing twenty years of deadfalls. By all accounts it is a good experience. AKA The Grease Trail. Info here- http://www.bcadventure.com/adventure/explore/cariboo/trails/almack.htm
Photos of the RL's last two trips can be found on their website under "Photo Galleries" in the "2005" (1300 pics) and "2008" (260 pics) albums. www.roverlanders.bc.ca
