Made it up to the waterfall trail on Sicker but that's about it. Spent the first part of the day on the Hillcrest side. Did "Fucked My Mirror" trail over to the powerlines first and the Jeeps & I made it just fine but the Subaru was having some trouble getting through so there was some backtracking and waiting for them to go around. We ran a bit short on time to make it to the Tyee tailing pile because a couple of people had to leave early to pick up kids from school etc. Next time will be on a weekend I think and we'll probably take the Jeep trail in off Sicker Rd first since it's too easy to get distracted by all the little trails on the Hillcrest side.
Finding good shops/good mechanics can be a bitter experience. I've had a few burns myself along the way and found a couple of good trusted shops.
For most of my regular service work I have a trusted local shop which I will not name. I know the manager and I know they have a good mechanic and good policies so I go there for things I can't do myself or be bothered to do for what it's worth. For all my 4x4 related needs, I've been going to Westshore Spring & 4x4 off the Island Highway in View Royal just before the casino on your way to Colwood/Sooke from Victoria. If there's something you're concerned about your truck with relation to 4 wheeling it, you can take it there knowing you'll get the straight dope on it from people who build and wheel. I'm sure other people have their favorite shops but that one's close to me and they've taken pretty good care of me so far and are reasonable.

We can't have that kind of sensible land management policy around here, it might be in the public interest!

It's no secret, it's been in the media lately and is starting to get more attention. A quick Google search will yield several articles on it.
